You must be running the desktop version of Outlook 2007 or later in order for the plug-in to function. Online versions like 365 are not supported. If you have an online version, please see our FAQdocument for details on how to work around this.
Ensure Outlook is closed on your computer.
Click this link to download the plug-in. Save the download to your desktop, or to another destination you will remember.
Once downloaded, right-click the MethodOutlookAddIn.exe file, and select Run as administratorto start the installation.
If you do not have Admin privileges on this computer, you may encounter obstacles, and the Administrator may need to install the plug-in for you.
If you're using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you may be prompted to give Windows permission to proceed. Make sure you click “Yes” on all of these prompts.
Install the plug-in where your other applications are installed (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Method). If the correct drive path is not selected, click Browse...and select the correct path yourself.
Ensure 'Method' appears at the end of your selected path. If it doesn't, please type it in yourself. This will create a directory called “Method” where your plug-in will be saved.
When prompted, click Install on the Microsoft Office Customization Installer. This will download another file you'll need to utilize the plug-in. Click Close once it’s installed.
The plug-in is now installed and ready to use! When you re-open Outlook, you will see the Method plug-in on the Outlook toolbar at the top of your screen.
Method’s API allows Method to interact with programs made by other companies (for example, Microsoft Outlook). It acts as a “bridge” between the two programs, allowing information to be passed back and forth as it is when Outlook syncs to your Method account. A user who wants to make use of that bridge needs API access, as well as access to all tables required for the plug-in to function. Here’s how to give it to them.
Navigate to Customize > Users.
Choose the user you want to grant access to, and click Edit...
Move forward to Step 8 and click This user is allowed to connect to Method API.
Under Choose from a list of available tables, select All tables required for Outlook integration.
If the user already has access to all Method tables, ignore this step.
You can add multiple Method accounts to the plug-in, which will allow you to add and edit information in that Method account when you're signed in. Here's how to add a Method account.
In Outlook, locate the Method Outlook Plug-in on the toolbar at the top of the screen, and click Setup.
Under Method Account Settings, enter the Company Account, User Name, and Password and click Save. Each staff member should enter their own credentials for the plug-in.
The user name required is your Method user name and not your email address. This is the name that appears in the top right-hand corner of Method when you log in: Your company account is the name that becomes visible when you are signing out of Method: The password required is the password for your Method account, not for your Outlook account.
If you have multiple Method Accounts or a Multi-Tenancy account, you can save all your credentials in the plug-in by repeating the step above.
Once you have added all your Method accounts, you can load the appropriate credentials from this screen by selecting an account from the dropdown and clicking Load!
In some cases you’ll want to delete one or more Method accounts from your Outlook plug-in. Here’s how to delete that information.
This step will only delete the sign-in credentials from the plug-in. All emails and CRM information that has been synced to and from Outlook will still be available in your Method account. However, you will need to re-enter those credentials if you want to use the plug-in with that account in the future.
In the Outlook toolbar, click Setup.
Under Method Account Settings, select the Method Account info you want to delete from the dropdown list, then click Load.
Click Delete. You’ll be asked to confirm the delete, so click OK on the dialogue box, then click OK again to close.
