Setup you Portal
Solution No. 8

Personalize your customer portal, and confirm default settings. Your portal is where customers can view and print transactions, modify their contact information, pay invoices, submit customer service requests (called "Cases") as well as view articles that answer frequently asked questions (called "Solutions").

  1. If you haven't done so already, we recommend you set yourself up as a test customer in Method. Make sure your real email address is entered, and make sure this email address isn't already in use in your QuickBooks file.
  2. In Method CRM go to Customize > Portals.
  3. Click Edit... beside the Contacts_Portal.
  4. In Step 1, change the User who will be the Administrator of this Portal to your customer service manager. NOTE: we DO NOT recommend changing any other settings here.
  5. Click Next to get to Step 2.
  6. Click Next to get to Step 3, since we do not recommend making changes here.
  7. Click Next to get to Step 4. If desired, you can come back later and change the appearance of the tab links that appear at the top of the page.
  8. In Step 4, review the Retrieve Password email subject and body, and make desired modifications. NOTE: The fields that appear inside the { } and [ ] brackets will be automatically replaced for you before the email is sent, so you can leave them as they are.
  9. Click Next to get to Step 5.
  10. In Step 5, review the Registration email subject and body, and make desired modifications.
  11. Click Next to get to Step 6.
  12. In Step 6, change your logo if desired, and click Next.
  13. In Step 7, click Show Test Page....
  14. Let's test out your portal. Click Register.
  15. Enter your Email, and your desired User Name and click Submit.
  16. Follow the on screen steps to sign in and try out your portal.

Something to keep in mind is that your customers may never have to register in order to use your portal - this is because they usually get emailed unique links that do not require a User Name and Password authentication.
